Brand Photography: Female Owned Dentistry.

When the marketing coordinator for Prairie Smiles Dentistry reached out about my brand photography service I was thrilled to find out about the back story behind the business. This dentistry is female founded and family operated with two sisters and many friendly team members preforming professional dentistry services in Huron, South Dakota.

During our brand deep dive call, which kickstarts my brand photography process, we determined the unique aspects that needed to be featured during this initial photoshoot. Not only did we need some fresh headshots of the sisters, Dr. Abigail Faul and Dr. Julianne Loewen, who would be the face of the brand moving forward we also wanted to capture key imagery (& short form video) that highlighted their advanced technology, kid friendly services, and custom "stock imagery" that would service them long term.

A peek into my brain for the brand photos -

From my perspective, as the Brand Photographer, this particular session was a unique and exciting challenge for a few reasons:

First, needing to create moments that felt like they told a story within very small, validly sterile, procedure rooms meant I needed to get creative with angles and make everyone feel relaxed - including the "faux patients" that bravely bared their open mouth for me.

On top of that, not one ounce of natural light touches the office space as of now (a new build for this dentistry is in the works) so my flash was absolutely necessary and added an additional element for me to ensure flattering, properly exposed images.

Custom "Stock" Imagery -

I went into this session knowing there wasn't going to be a white wall to utilize so I brought along my favorite backdrops to create a few clean images that offer ample white space. The dentistry will be able to use these images to start conversation online speaking to the tools of their trade, apply graphics/text as needed, and order framed prints for the new building they are planning for without worrying about copyright infringements.

Visuals with Value -

I was personally blown away by the technology this dentistry had on site, especially in the middle of the rural midwest. During the session, I was educated multiple times on what was what and while the pronunciation of each machine went a bit over my head - I was sure to point out and explain to them that this was such a value add that they needed to be marketing. I could instantly see their wheels turning, thinking of all the ways this type of visual would aid that fresh strategy. These types of conversations are such a bonus when hiring a Brand Photographer that has a marketing and brand strategy background.

We don't just capture pretty photos together, we create visuals that work specifically with your messaging.

In that same breath, the kid friendly focus was such a treat to capture.

From dual tv screens (one mounted on the ceiling directly overhead) with Bluey playing in the background, to mini sunglasses, the mouth monster, and all the fun take home toys, we had so much fun utilizing Dr. Fauls kiddos as stand in patients for a small portion of this session. Having them join us during a weekday was carefully crafted into the timeline of the session which I provide and get approval of before the photoshoot.

Call for Celebration-

After all of that, (and more) we had a few minutes to spare at the end of the session to pop outside in some natural light to capture some celebratory shots, complete with on brand balloons and some sisterly silliness. Celebratory visuals are versatile for any business milestones, promotions, or announcements -- and these women have a few to shout about very soon!

In the end, I delivered over 150+ photos and 80+ short form videos for this female founded dentistry to utilize in refreshing their online presence. I'm so pleased with what we were able to capture and I look forward to seeing how they incorporate their new brand assets into their marketing efforts!
